Tag Heuer celebrates the 40th birthday of the original Tag Heuer Monaco. At the BaselWorld 2009 Tag Heuer already unveiled several new Tag Heuer Monaco wrist watches. TAG Heuer has now presented the new Tag Heuer Monaco LS.

When Steve McQueen was driving His Porsche 917, he was wearing his TAG Heuer Monaco Wristwatch. The timepieces producing company is now unveiling the new version of what became an icon a few decades ago: the Monaco LS Chronograph Calibre 12.

According to its movement, the new Monaco LS features a TAG Heuer Calibre 12 Automatic Chronograph based on a Dubois Depraz 2008 where the chronograph minutes are displayed at 9 o’clock and the chronograph hours markers are displayed at 6 o’clock. It also has the date indicator at 12 o’clock.

About its dial: it is a black one with technical fine brushed bridges inspired by the MONACO Calibre 360 concept which featured a faceted chronograph, polished and fine-brushed minute and hour hands with luminescent markers. It also features hand-applied and faceted indexes with luminescent markers and a rhodium second hand with a touch of red.

Its case: with a diameter of 40.5 mm inspired by the V4 case design, it features a curved sapphire crystal glass polished and fine brushed stainless steel case and push-buttons. It is water resistant up to 100 meters.

Limited edition of just 150 watches the Monaco V4. It is the only Tag Heuer watch made from platinum (170 grams of it), fact that gives to it its modern style.

The Monaco V4 changes inspired from car engines. Like mechanical watches, it engines has the same concepts: transmission, friction, torque and power. But, the Tag Heuer First uses a 4.25-gram platinum ingot which acts as a sort of cylinder, in a linear movement. Then, changes the transmission of power from the traditional wheels to a drive-belt transmission: 13 belts with a gauge measure of 0.5 x 0.45mm.

The Monaco V4 uses 2.2mm diameter bearings with 0.25mm balls rotating inside, rather than synthetic rubies to reduce friction acting as energy generators with bridges made of transparent sapphire.

The Monaco V4 wristwatch was presented at Baselworld in 2004. Then, in 2007, a production ready piece was shown. 2009 was the year in which the Monaco V4 watch version was finally presented.

Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer has announced a special, limited edition Monaco Chronograph. The NEW Monaco1969 Original Re-Edition will count with just 1,000 pieces. It is launched in order to celebrate TAG Heuer Monaco’s 40 years of precision, immortalized by actor Steve McQueen in the film “Le Mans”. The blue-dial Monaco Re-Edition comes with an exclusive case back signed by Jack Heuer and engraved in honor of its mythical ambassador Steve McQueen.

Each of the 1,000 TAG Heuer Monaco 1969 Original Re-Edition Chronographs features a perforated leather strap with a steel buckle. The blue dial features sporty red accents on its hands, its distinctive horizontal diamond-tipped hour indices and also a hand-applied date window in polished steel. The signature of TAG Heuer honorary chairman Jack Heuer graces the stainless steel caseback.

The Tag Heuer Monaco 1969 Original Re-Edition is limited to 1,000 pieces and in contrast to the new re-engineered Monaco Calibre 12 still features the Calibre 11 movement.

TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz

TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz with automatic chronograph is a limited edition of only 3,500 pieces thought and designed for sports car enthusiasts. It is an exceptionally and successful result of a fruitful partnership between Mercedes-Benz and TAG Heuer. This watch is produced exclusively for Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren car owners and combines the classical art of watchmaking with the new high-tech movement generation.
The special attribute of this tech-advanced wristwatch is the arrangement of the chronograph’s buttons beside the dial, resembling the layout of the shift buttons on the automatic transmission selector lever in the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren ultra-luxury super sports car.
The TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz is powered by the mechanical TAG Heuer Calibre 17 movement with automatic winder system, chronograph and date functions.
The case of the TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz is polished-satin alternating finishing for elegance and ergonomic curves. This watch has an ultra-scratch-resistible crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. This model has 2 crowns: at 3 o’clock engraved SLR, and at 9 o’clock with the TAG Heuer logo stamped. The internal bi-directional bezel operated by the crown at 9 o’clock, allows the driver to measure time limits, for example, elapsed or remaining racing time. The outer fixed black bezel in fine-brushed titanium has an engraved Tachymeter scale for calculating speeds. The TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz is produced with black alligator strap, fully built-in the case which has safety-folding claps in order to prevent the watch from accidental openings. At the same time, it can be easily opened with the help of push buttons on the clasp sides. This watch is also water resistant to 100 meters.

TAG Heuer Monaco

The TAG Heuer Monaco was dedicated to motor racing, became famous after Steve McQueen wore it in the “Le Mans” movie in 1971. That edition was called “Steve McQueen Monaco Edition”. Afterwards, TAG Heuer Monaco suffered a number of different re-editions and improvements that, finally, placed this timepiece on one of the highest positions in the watch industry. In 2005, the limited edition “Monaco Vintage” was launched, commemorating Steve McQueen’s 75th anniversary of his birthday and inspired by the legend and spirit of motor racing. It has a three-colored dial, with blue and red bands. Concept watches Monaco V4 and Monaco 360 LS truly embody the spirit of the TAG Heuer company.

TAG Heuer Carrera

TAG Heuer Carrera is a legendary watch. It was created to honor the triumphs of the Argentinian race car driver, Juan Manuel Fangio, regarded by many as the “greatest driver of all times”.
