The most expensive watch worth US$540,000 Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar, worn by Italian Prime Minister and mega-wealthy industrialist Silvio Berlusconi. This Vacheron Constantin watch is worth over five hundred thousand dollars.
.
The Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar was produced from 1946 through 2006. The discontinuance was a good strike news to those collectors fortunate enough to own one. This watch is in platinum, with the Vacheron Constantin reference number 30020/000P/7596.
.
.
It features a platinum case, with Vacheron’s familiar flared lugs. Its front crystal is a sapphire one while the back crystal one is made of acrylic permitting the repeater tone to sound more purely and louder. Case dimensions: 37mm diameter by 10.5mm thick.
.
Dial is silver with applied hour markers and sunken subdials. The following calendar information is shown: day, date, month, leap year, moonphase and age of the moon.

The Most Expensive Vintage Ferrari Auctions For $11 million: Chris Evans

Once owned by U.S. actor James Coburn, the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder, fetched $11 million at an auction in the luxury sports carmaker’s hometown of Maranello. The proud owner is a British national radio DJ celebrity Chris Evans.
The Ferrari 250 is a sports car built by Ferrari from 1953 to 1964. The company’s most successful early line, the 250 series included several variants. It was replaced by the 275 and the 330.

Designed for export to America, the 1957 250 GT California Spyder was Scaglietti’s interpretation of an open-top 250 GT. Aluminium was used in the hood, doors and trunk lid, with steel specified elsewhere for most models, though a few aluminium-bodied racing versions were also built. The engine was the same as in the 250 Tour de France racing car with up to 240 PS (177 kW; 237 hp). All used the long 2,600 mm (102.4 in) chassis.
45 were made before it was replaced by the SWB version in 1960, and it remains highly valuable for automotive collection, with one example auctioned on August 18, 2007 at Monterey, California for $4.9 million.

Replacing their LWB California Spyder with a SWB version, Scaglietti showed a new 250 GT Spyder California at Geneva in 1960. Based on the 250 GT Berlinetta SWB, it also introduced disc brakes and a 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp) version of the 250 V12. About 55 were built.
A fiberglass-bodied replica of a 1961 250 GT Spyder California, based on an MG, was featured in the 1986 hit film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
A record price for a 250 GT at auction was set on May 18, 2008 when a black 1961 SWB example that had been owned by The Magnificent Seven star James Coburn was sold for 6.4 million Euros/£5.5 million/$10,894,900 (€7,040,000 including fees). The buyer was Chris Evans, a British radio DJ.

The Park Hyatt (Shanghai): the world’s highest hotel.

The Park Hyatt, Shanghai, has just taken the mantle of the world’s highest hotel. The Jin Mao Tower it’s about 40 meters taller than the Empire State Building in NYC in which the Park Hyatt Shanghai occupies floors 79 to 93 of the Shanghai World Financial Center (the tallest tower in China at a massive 492 meters). Its stand rates start at around US$320 per night and ramp up to nearly US$13K for the stunning Chairman Suite.

There may be hotels with nicer views, but there’s no hotel on Earth that lets you look down from a greater height than the brand spanking new 6-star Park Hyatt Shanghai. Situated on a bend in the Huangpu river, every room at the Park Hyatt makes full use of its positioning, with floor to ceiling glass windows. You can look out on the misty city below, the enormous Jin Mao tower across the road – which is the second tallest building in mainland China – and the Oriental Pearl TV tower.

The most designed boat in the world: Coming soon, the new and improved Auto Express 102.

Shipbuilder Austal is launching a refined version of its past trimaran boat that improves sea-keeping, passenger comfort and fuel efficiency. Austal trimaran next generation: the Auto Express 102 it’s a 102 meter boat which will be launched in October. It will be able to carry 1165 passengers, 245 cars and 190 lane meters for trucks, travel at 39 knots, and has a 630 nautical mile range.

Even Austal delivered the worlds fastest and largest aluminium boat to the Canary Islands in 2005, the work didn’t stop there. Benchijigua (the previous model) operated for over a year with a lot of instrumentation on board, getting-together data and as the same operator runs both catamarans in the same area, Austal could make direct comparisons.
In developing the trimaran, Austal discovered a number of unexpected pluses along the way. It is said to have greater speed for the same cargo weight and the same power compared to a monohull and a catamaran. Of course it also has better passenger comfort (less sea-sickness) and also a better sea-keeping ability.
Austal also found the trimaran could operate at high speed in much higher wave heights. There also proved to be less slamming, water hitting the hull, which causes huge loads on a catamaran’s structure making the whole structure vibrate.
A number of refinements will make the 102 an even better ride. Among these, the radical use of T-foil stabilizers, horizontal wings that help control pitching, on each angle. This T-foil stabilizers will feature sensors on board that sense that one corner’s coming up, so it sends a signal to the wing to provide a force down.

Mahatma Gandhi Zenith Pocketwatch

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in 1869 in Porbandar, India.

He is commonly known around the world as Mahatma Gandhi or “Great Soul”, an honorific first applied to him by Rabindranath Tagore. In India, on the other hand, he is known as Bapu (bāpu or “Father”). He is officially honoured in India as the Father of the Nation; his birthday, 2 October, is commemorated there as Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday and worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Gandhi was a prominent political and spiritual leader of the Indian Independece Movement and an inspiration to Martin Luther King between many other major figures till nowadays. He was named by the Time Magazine as the second most important man of the 20th Century (after Albert Einstein). Mahatma means “Great Soul” and, being coherent with such an honorofic tittle, he was a pioneer of “Satyagraha” meaning the resistance to tiranny through mass civil disobedience and total non-violence through which he led India to independence from Britain.

According to the past March Antiquorum Auctioneers’Catalogue, Mahatma Gandhi’s Pocketwatch was later given to his grandniece, Abha Gandhi. Accompanied by Gandhi’s sandals, bowl, plate, glasses, images of Gandhi and letters of authenticity from Ghita Mehta

The watch’s brand: Zenith, movement No. 421357, case No. 49529. Made circa 1910. Historically Important, it is a pocket watch with alarm function and Arabic numerals. Its diameter is 49 mm and its thickness 16 mm. It was sold in $2,096,000 in New York, between the 4th and the 5th of March, during Antiquorum’s auction.

The Sandals: Gandhi apparently gave the sandals to a British military officer in Aden in 1931 during his trip from Bombay to London.

The Bowl / Plate: The bowl and the plate (thali) were also gifts that Gandhi bestowed upon Abha, his grandniece.

The Glasses: His pair of glasses were given to Colonel H. H. Shiri Diwan Nawab, Sir Muhammed Mahabat Khanji, the 3rd Rasul Khanji, Nawab Sahib of Junagadh, by Gandhi, most probably at his Ashram in Ahmedabad in the 1930s.
